Business Administration - Professional Track BS

This program is an excellent choice for students with a specialized associate's degree, such as business construction technology, legal assistance, retail fashion merchandising, and others. It is also great for students with an associate's in business who would like to add technical or specialized training to their credentials. This program will prepare you for the rapidly changing nature of the work environment in business, government and other nonprofit organizations and equip you with the skills you need for entry-level positions as well as advancement.

Building upon a core of business courses, the program features a tight sequence of major courses; however, the program also provides the flexibility to specialize in an area of for the student. Students with associate degrees in technical fields will find the program attractive for building a solid knowledge of business and management upon their technical expertise. The major is also valuable as preparation for law school, as well as for graduate studies in business.

Professional Track Specializations

  • Customized Program: This track can be utilized by students who have or are pursing a technical or occupational associate degree. This specialization allows each student to build on his or her technical area of expertise with the business foundations necessary to compete in today's economy. Appropriate occupational areas would include areas as diverse as robotics to cosmetology.
  • Culinary Management External link - opens in a new window: This renowned program available in Grand Rapids provides an avenue for immediate employment and for advancement to upper levels of management. Employers seek graduates for positions ranging from general manager and food sales representative to chef production supervisors and special event planner. Graduates of the program obtain positions in lodging, service, food and beverage production, retailing, financial accounting and management.
  • International Tourism: External link - opens in a new window Developed specifically for the partnership with Lambton College and SC4 and offered in Port Huron, this degree builds on the specialty course work from the Lambton and SC4 programs and rounds out your education with a strong core of business courses, plus four advanced business courses. Once you complete your degree, you will have combined your occupational specialty knowledge with your business knowledge and be ready to serve in management and administrative positions in the hospitality and tourism industry.
